About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Workshop Manager to lead our busy aftersales workshop. This is a key leadership role responsible for the efficient, safe, and profitable running of the workshop, ensuring all work meets both Skoda manufacturer standards and Group requirements.
You will be accountable for driving productivity, leading a skilled technical team, and delivering exceptional customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Workshop Operations
- Manage the daily operation of the workshop at Simpsons Skoda
- Ensure all servicing and repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to manufacturer standards
- Allocate work effectively based on technician skills and capacity
- Maximise workshop utilisation and reduce vehicle downtime
Performance & Productivity
- Drive labour efficiency, technician productivity, and workshop profitability
- Monitor KPIs including hours sold, efficiency, utilisation, and comeback rates
- Implement improvements to meet and exceed aftersales targets
- Support achievement of monthly and annual performance goals
Team Leadership
- Lead, motivate, and develop technicians and apprentices
- Carry out regular performance reviews, coaching, and training support
- Assist with recruitment and onboarding of workshop staff
- Promote a strong safety-first, high-performance culture
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all work complies with Skoda and Group standards
- Maintain high first-time fix rates and customer satisfaction
- Carry out quality control checks and final vehicle inspections
- Ensure compliance with health & safety and workshop regulations
Customer & Aftersales Support
- Work closely with service advisors to ensure clear communication with customers
- Support resolution of technical issues and customer concerns
- Ensure timely updates on vehicle progress and completion times
Stock & Resource Management
- Monitor workshop tools, equipment, and consumables
- Support parts department with forecasting and supply requirements
- Ensure efficient use of resources and cost control
About You
You will be a strong leader with experience in a franchised dealership workshop environment, capable of driving performance while maintaining the highest standards of customer care.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in workshop management or senior automotive technician role
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent organisational and communication abilities
- Strong understanding of KPI-driven performance management
- Knowledge of warranty procedures and manufacturer standards
- Experience using dealership/workshop management systems
- Ability to handle customer concerns professionally
Required:
- Skoda or Volkswagen Group experience
- Manufacturer training certifications
