This is a full-time position with working hours of Monday to Friday 7.00 - 17.30.
Saturday 7.30 - 13.30.
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Waste Management Site Manager to oversee daily operations within our Waste Transfer station. The ideal candidate will possess strong supervisory skills and the ability to manage a diverse team effectively. This role is crucial in ensuring that all activities are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards.
You will be responsible for managing a team of operatives handling a wide range of waste streams, including:
- Skip waste
- Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) containers
- Third-party tipping vehicles
You will ensure that waste is processed efficiently, recycling performance is maximised, and all site activities are carried out safely and in compliance with current legislation and permit requirements.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and manage site operations, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Lead and motivate team members to achieve high levels of performance and productivity.
- Conduct regular site inspections to maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation
- Provide training and support to staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Address any issues or conflicts that arise on-site promptly and effectively.
- Maintain accurate records of site activities, including attendance, incidents, machine and site checks.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a supervisory role within the waste industry.
- Experience operating and managing transfer station plant and equipment, including: Picking lines, trommels, Loading shovels and other loading equipment
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- A solid understanding of health and safety regulations related to site operations.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to challenges.
Desirable
- WAMITAB qualification (preferred but not essential).
- Knowledge of Environmental Permit compliance and waste legislation.
