Technical Manager
The Role
We are seeking an experienced Technical Manager to lead the site Quality Assurance and Technical function within a busy food manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and continuously improving food safety, quality and technical standards across the site. You will work closely with Production, Sales, Innovation and the wider management team to ensure that products, processes and systems consistently meet legal, customer and company requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead, develop and support the Quality Assurance team, ensuring appropriate training, resources and direction.
- Promote a strong and positive food safety and quality culture throughout the site.
- Maintain, improve and develop food safety, quality and technical management systems.
- Ensure compliance with Irish and EU food legislation, customer requirements and recognised industry standards.
- Lead the implementation and maintenance of technical and quality standards across the site.
- Manage the internal audit programme and ensure corrective and preventive actions are completed effectively and on time.
- Lead the technical function during customer audits, certification audits, regulatory inspections and technical visits.
- Work closely with Production, Sales and Innovation to ensure products meet food safety, quality, legal and customer requirements.
- Support supplier approval, raw material management and supplier compliance activities.
- Monitor regulatory developments, industry trends and emerging food safety risks.
- Review quality and food safety performance and implement improvement plans where required.
- Investigate non-conformances, customer complaints and quality incidents, ensuring effective root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Identify practical and innovative opportunities to improve site performance and strengthen quality systems.
- Provide technical advice and guidance to management and operational teams.
Experience & Qualifications
- A qualification in Food Science, Microbiology, Quality Management or another relevant scientific/food-related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Significant experience in a senior Technical or Quality role within food manufacturing.
- Experience leading and developing a Quality Assurance or Technical team.
- Strong knowledge of food manufacturing processes, food safety management systems and quality assurance principles.
- Experience working within an FMCG or food manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of HACCP, food legislation, risk assessment and regulatory compliance.
- HACCP certification and proven experience developing, reviewing and maintaining HACCP systems.
- Knowledge of IFS Food and organic certification standards.
- Experience leading customer, regulatory and certification audits.
- Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving and organisational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and influence stakeholders at all levels.
