Cumberland Lodge, the educational charity and residential conference centre in Windsor Great Park, seeks to appoint a permanent Dining Room Assistant to join our friendly team of about 50 employees, who are available to work on a part-time basis.
At Cumberland Lodge we hold a variety of events and conferences, and the hospitality staff are integral to creating an excellent customer experience.
The Dining Room Assistant will also eventually act as a shift lead and therefore applicants must be confident to interact and delegate a small team of casual staff most of which are aged 16-17 years old.
Job description
Reports to: Dining Room Supervisor and Hospitality Director
Functional relationships with: Dining Room and Bar team, Kitchen team, Duty Managers
Functional Relationship with: All kitchen and dining room staff, Front of House team
· To report on duty in good time, clean and tidy and wearing the correct uniform.
· At the start of each shift, review the daily catering report to ensure you are fully aware of all guests’ needs, requirements, dietary information and service arrangements, enabling you to provide safe, efficient and attentive service.
· To demonstrate a strong commitment to guest safety by following all allergen procedures, communicating dietary requirements clearly to the kitchen and service team, and taking appropriate care to prevent cross-contact and ensure guests can dine safely and confidently.
· To help wait on tables and to pour wine when required.
· To also assist with the serving of meals from hot counters where necessary.
· To assist with the preparing and service of hot beverages
· To clear away after each meal service including refreshment breaks and to help wash up the crockery and glasses, making sure that everything is polished and stored away in the correct place.
· To work ahead as a team and lay and up for the following meal/day and by preparing the trollies and cutlery e.g. For breakfast the following morning.
· To assist with serving hot beverages
· To ensure ALL the dining rooms are clean and tidy prior to each meal service.
· Carpets are to be vacuumed, wooden floors swept and mopped.
· To make sure that the wash up area and coffee room is left clean and tidy and floor is washed at the end of the day ready for the next shift/day.
· To be polite and helpful to guests and fellow work colleagues.
· To report any problems to Dining Room Supervisor or to Hospitality Director.
· Ensuring H&S training is compliant at all times.
· To portray a professional image at all times, dealing with visitors requirements in a warm and welcoming and efficient manner.
Person specification
· Previous experience is advantageous, however, full training will be provided
· Excellent verbal communication skills
· Enthusiastic, proactive, and hardworking individual with a can- do attitude
· Applicants must be at least 18 years old to meet a minimum age requirement to serve alcohol in an eating establishment
· Able to perform the demanding physical tasks of a dining room assistant for example, carrying plates, able to work outside via steps during summer months.
· Applicants will be expected to lead a shift so must be competent and communicate well.
Further information
Salary: £13.65 per hour (£5,323.50 FTE)
Hours: 15 hours (2 x 7.5 hours) alternate weekends
Normal Rota: Saturdays from 7am
Sundays from 8am
However, flexibility is essential to meet business needs, including the ability to provide cover for the other person during periods of annual leave, where reasonable notice has been given.
Location: Based at Cumberland Lodge in Windsor Great Park, applicants should be aware that Cumberland Lodge is not easily accessible by public transport, therefore access to a car is essential.
