Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Therapeutic Residential Support Worker to join our team. This role involves providing specialised support to children and young people within a residential setting, fostering their development and well-being through personalised care plans. The successful candidate will play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing environment that promotes positive behavioural and emotional growth. Previous experience working with children, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team are essential for this position.
Responsibilities
- Deliver personalised care and support to children and young people in accordance with individual care plans.
- Foster a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment that encourages positive behaviour and emotional resilience.
- Assist with daily routines, meal preparation, and recreational activities.
- Support behavioural management strategies and de-escalation techniques as outlined in care plans.
- Maintain accurate records of progress, incidents, and activities in line with organisational policies.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues, families, social workers, and other professionals to ensure therapeutic support for each individual.
- Drive children to appointments, activities, or outings as required, ensuring safety at all times.
- Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills relevant to the role.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children or in childcare settings is highly desirable.
- Valid driving licence with the ability to drive organisational vehicles safely.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build trusting relationships.
- Knowledge of child development principles and experience developing or implementing care plans is advantageous.
- IT literacy skills for maintaining accurate documentation and reporting.
- Compassionate attitude with excellent organisational skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Flexibility to work shifts as required within a residential setting; a commitment to safeguarding standards is essential.
