- Salary: £15 per hour with 15% shift allowance (c£37,000)
- Shifts: 12 hour days (5 on, 5off, 4 on, 4 off)
- Location: Hemerdon Mine, PL7 5BW (No public transport to site. Own vehicle essential)
Tungsten West plc is a mining development company focussed on the restarting of the world-class Hemerdon Tungsten-Tin mine located in South Devon, UK. The Company is the 100% owner of the previously producing Hemerdon mine, which is currently the 3rd largest tungsten resource in the world. With demand for strategic metals, including tungsten and tin, increasing rapidly due to their critical use in new technology, Tungsten West is focussed on meeting this demand by restarting production at Hemerdon in the next 12 months.
Join the team working on the mine re-start, being an integral member throughout the project re-build, commissioning/ramp-up and into production.
Job purpose:
Within this role as Process Operator, you will be focused on the shift-based operation and monitoring of an assigned section of the mineral processing facility.
The position supports a seven day a week construction program requiring a shift-based rota covering seven days a week across both days a nights with 5 on, 5 off, 4 on, 4 off rotas (6:45am-7pm or 6:45pm-7am)
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the operation of an assigned section of the mineral processing facility: crushing and screening, dense media, gravity, and magnetic separation, grinding, concentrate drying and bagging and tails disposal.
- Support the Assistant Plant Superintendent in delivering the operational objectives, providing feedback on the plant status, and ensuring correct actions are taken to address issues encountered.
- Identifying and diagnosing items of the plant that require preventative maintenance or repair.
- Ensuring production activities achieve maximum effective use of the plant and equipment.
- Utilise trouble shooting skills to resolve process related deviations and problems and relay these changes to the control room operator.
- Completing routine operational checks in assigned section of the plant and report findings to Assistant Plant Superintendent.
- Performing process plant clean-up and maintaining the cleanliness of the plant and equipment to a high standard.
- Adhering to Standard Operating Procedures within the assigned section.
- Performing routine daily inspections of equipment and conduct start-up, shut-down activities as directed by the control room operator.
- Ensuring basic operational maintenance tasks and repairs are completed within allotted time frames.
- Completing logbook entries, daily reports on delays, production, and safety issues before the end of each shift.
- Clearly communicating all production and safety related issue to team members and on-coming shift.
- Work as a professional, upholding the standards of best practice at all times.
