Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic Activity Assistant to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in our Care home and assisted living facilities. The ideal candidate will ensure that all residents feel valued, included, and stimulated through various recreational activities. This role is vital in enhancing the quality of life for our residents by promoting social interaction and mental well-being. 20 hours per week flexible will include weekends on rota basis. Will consider job share.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organise, and implement a range of activities tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
- Facilitate group activities such as arts and crafts, games, music sessions, and physical exercises.
- Assist residents with participation in activities, ensuring their safety and comfort at all times.
- Communicate effectively with residents to understand their preferences and encourage engagement.
- Collaborate with Care staff to monitor residents’ health and well-being during activities.
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback on activities.
- Create a warm and welcoming environment that fosters social interaction among residents.
- Support individual residents with personal care needs as required.
Requirements
- Previous experience in care settings such as Care homes or assisted living facilities is preferred.
- Knowledge of dementia care practices is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and staff members.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated.
- A caring attitude towards seniors, demonstrating empathy and patience.
- Flexibility to adapt activities based on the varying needs of residents.
- A valid Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check may be required.
- Clean full Driving licence
