Salary Range: £70,650 - £78500
This role is instrumental in leading the company’s efforts to grow sales and market share by its focus on veterinary recommendation and ‘Brand Recommendation Most Often’ (BRMO) leadership, by providing education, and technical and business development support to the profession, and by bringing veterinary insights to the company.
The PVA Manger UK & IE is responsible for the localisation, tailoring and execution of the PVA strategy provided by the European PVA director. Through a granular understanding of the local veterinary profession and animal health category in the UK&IE they will adapt and tailor solutions in conjunction with the commercial grid to deliver Hill’s programs focused on all parts of the veterinary profession. A holistic, whilst tailored, approach with Vet Corporates, Vet schools, students, KTLs, practicing veterinarians (general and specialist), trade & professional associations, nurses, as well as internal audiences.
They will specifically anticipate the evolving needs and requirements of a strengthening presence of vet corporates and the well known challenges in the veterinary profession.
They will integrate their PVA programmes into the UK’s commercial organisation, and accomplish the yearly KPI/goals set by Division and the West Europe Hub GM, leading to:
Strong positive impression of the Hill’s company, its products, and its services
Continued scientific leadership of Hill’s
Leadership in active veterinary team endorsement and BRMO by world-class KTL and relationship management
Continued market share and top and bottom line growth
Drive Strategic Direction: Translate the European PVA strategy into measurable local objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) that fully align with commercial priorities.
Lead and Develop Teams: Direct, coach, and support a team consisting of two Professional Consulting Veterinarians, one Nurse Specialist, and three Customer Service specialists to ensure they achieve operational and professional goals.
Manage Key Stakeholder Partnerships: Foster strategic, long-term relationships with veterinary corporate headquarters, universities, key thought leaders, and professional industry associations to maximize organizational influence.
Direct Scientific and Academic Affairs: Oversee technical training programs, supervise the national veterinary helpline, manage the annual congress strategy, and review all marketing and sales materials to guarantee complete technical accuracy.
Cross-Functional Commercial Collaboration: Partner closely with Marketing and Customer Development teams to embed veterinary insights into commercial plans and ensure all communications meet ethical, professional, and regulatory standards.
Education: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or an equivalent, recognized national veterinary qualification.
Experience: Minimum of 6 years of experience working within a veterinary practice or a directly equivalent professional veterinary industry role.
- Industry & Commercial Knowledge: Prior professional experience working within the pet food sector or a fast-moving commercial business environment, including practical experience in business or practice management.
Functional Competencies: Proven ability to translate complex veterinary insights into business value, maintain high-level technical credentials, and stay up to date with the latest developments in veterinary medicine.
Competencies: Demonstrated excellence in setting strategic direction, driving teamwork and collaboration, remaining consumer and customer-focused, and communicating with impact.
