As a leading dementia care specialist provider, Fortava Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Senior Care Assistant to join our team at The Maltings Care Home in Peterborough. This is a full-time role working night shifts.
As a key member of our care team, you will play a vital role in supporting residents with their daily living needs, ensuring they feel safe, valued and well cared for. Duties:
- Deliver high-quality person-centred care in line with individual care plans, including personal care, mobility support and daily living activities
- Support residents with nutrition and hydration needs, including monitoring food/fluid intake and weights
- Assist with medication administration, storage and recording in line with procedures
- Monitor residents’ health and wellbeing, reporting any changes promptly
- Contribute to care planning, reviews, admissions and discharges
- Maintain accurate records and complete all required documentation
- Ensure a safe, clean and compliant environment, adhering to Health & Safety and infection control standards
- Lead and support care staff on shift, delegating tasks and mentoring new team members
- Liaise with families and healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care
- Support end-of-life care with compassion and dignity
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a care or residential setting (essential)
- Medication administration experience or willingness to train
- Strong understanding of person-centred care and safeguarding practices
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to lead, support and supervise staff effectively
- Competent in record keeping and care documentation
- Knowledge of Health & Safety, infection control and manual handling
- Compassionate, patient and respectful approach to care
- Ability to work flexibly and respond to residents’ changing needs
