We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established, family-run business in Galashiels with an excellent reputation for delivering outstanding customer service.
We're looking for an experienced Receptionist / Office Administrator to become the first point of contact for customers, visitors and telephone enquiries. This is a varied role combining front-of-house responsibilities with office administration, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working with people while ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of a busy office.
As the face of the business, you'll play an important role in creating a welcoming and professional experience for every customer.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the reception area and provide a professional, friendly welcome to customers and visitors.
- Answer and direct incoming telephone calls efficiently and professionally.
- Respond to customer enquiries and liaise with the relevant departments.
- Make appointment reminder calls and assist with scheduling appointments.
- Provide general administrative support to the wider team.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail.
- Order stationery and office consumables.
- Arrange accommodation for staff attending training courses.
- Ensure office equipment and printers remain stocked with supplies.
- Maintain a clean, organised and welcoming reception area.
- Support the smooth day-to-day running of the office.
About You
We're looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in a Receptionist, Front of House or Office Administration role.
- Comfortable handling a busy telephone switchboard and customer enquiries.
- Friendly, approachable and professional.
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Confident managing multiple priorities in a busy environment.
- A strong communicator with an excellent telephone manner.
- Competent using Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
- Passionate about delivering outstanding customer service.
Experience scheduling appointments, supporting a busy office or service department, and working within a customer-facing administrative environment would be highly advantageous.

Before You Apply
To be considered for this opportunity, you'll ideally have previous experience within a reception, front-of-house or office administration role, where you've been responsible for handling telephone enquiries, greeting customers and providing day-to-day administrative support.
