Overview
We are seeking a talented and passionate Afro Hairdresser to join our growing salon team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with Afro, textured, and curly hair, with a passion for creating beautiful protective styles while delivering outstanding customer service. You will be responsible for helping clients achieve healthy, stylish hair through professional techniques, personalised consultations, and exceptional care. Responsibilities
- Provide professional Afro hair services, including braiding, knotless braids, box braids, cornrows, stitch braids, Ghana weaving, twists, faux locs, crochet styles, and children's braiding.
- Carry out sew-in weaves, wig installations, wig styling, closures, frontals, and weave maintenance.
- Wash, condition, deep-treat, detangle, blow-dry, trim, and prepare natural hair before styling.
- Perform silk presses, natural hair styling, and protective styling while promoting healthy hair care practices.
- Offer personalised consultations and recommend suitable hairstyles based on clients' hair type, lifestyle, and preferences.
- Advise clients on aftercare routines and recommend professional haircare products to maintain healthy hair.
- Manage appointments, greet clients professionally, and maintain excellent customer service throughout each visit.
- Keep workstations, tools, and salon areas clean, sanitised, and organised in line with health and safety standards.
- Assist with stock control, maintaining salon supplies, and ensuring products are displayed professionally.
- Support and mentor junior stylists or trainees where required.
- Promote salon services, retail products, and special offers to enhance the client experience and contribute to salon growth.
- Build lasting relationships with clients through professionalism, reliability, and excellent communication.
Experience
- Proven experience as an Afro Hair Stylist or Hairdresser with strong practical skills in braiding, cornrows, protective styling, and natural hair care.
- Experience with sew-in weaves, wig installations, silk presses, and hair treatments is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of different Afro hair textures and healthy hair maintenance techniques.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy salon environment.
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
- Previous supervisory or salon management experience is an advantage but not essential.
- A passion for keeping up to date with the latest Afro hair trends, techniques, and products.
