Here at Amical Veterinary Centre, we are looking for a professional and experienced Veterinary Surgeon to lead our team.
The ideal candidate must be confident in both consultations and all routine surgeries where there is an option to lead surgery within the practice. We see all usual first opinion cases for mainly cats, dogs and small furys.
With multiple surgical slots available per week and even potential full-day operations, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to hone your skills. You’ll have access to support from local OOH hospitals and referral options if needed, so help is always on hand. We would encourage and support someone to develop their own areas of interests within the practice, to complement our team of dedicated, skilled vets and nurses.
The practice has a modern waiting area, large open spaced dispensary which our consult rooms back onto for ease, fully equipped inhouse Idexx lab, large digital xray room with a separate viewing area, open space prep area and recovery cages, bright theatre with heated theatre table and multiparameter machines with easy access to suture material window and crash trolley, large multiprobe ultrasound, dedicated dental area and equipment.
We have a supportive team of RVN’s based in practice who offer their own nurse consults in their own consult rooms.
As a practice we support many charities in the local area, such as Merrylegs, RSPCA and Cats protection.
We offer flexible working patterns that flex with you and your lifestyle. Whether you are looking to flex your rota hours to balance the school holidays, fix to navigate the school runs or just looking to strike that balance between home and work life. Full time or part time, consulting only, or a more regular role involving consulting and surgical time. We are flexible in what we can offer and are willing to work with applicants to find what is best for them.
Work-life balance is very important to us; all our staff work to live, not the other way round. A full-time working week is 4 days, with a set day off per week and one in eight Saturday mornings. Consultations are 15 minutes as standard, with longer appointments for more complex cases, blood samples and euthanasia. There is protected admin time throughout the day to be able to do what is needed to help our clients, without putting additional time pressures on our vets.
Out of hours provision is provided by Vets Now based out of our main hospital site in Clayton Le Dale, which means inpatient care is continuous without the need for patient transfers.
