North Yorkshire Council are offering a fantastic opportunity to work within the Bereavement Team based at Maple Park Crematorium. We are seeking an empathetic and proactive team player with natural compassion and the desire to make a difference every day. Industry experience is not essential as full training and support will be provided.
Main Responsibilities:
Chapel and Burial Attendant
This is a public facing role in which you will work with ministers/celebrants and funeral directors to ensure the smooth running of funeral services. You will interact with families and mourners in a caring and understanding manner.
Cremator Technician
You will be fully trained and work towards an accredited qualification in cremating.
Memorial Safety
As part of the council’s programme to ensure the safety of memorials you will be required to attend sites to carry out memorial testing.
Funeral Administration
To carry out the administration of cremation, burial and memorial services in accordance with statutory legislation. To be responsible for the accurate inputting and maintenance of all records and systems. Communicating over the phone/email and in person with families, members of the public and stakeholders, dealing with all enquiries in relation to Bereavement services.
Some weekend working and irregular hours may be required to meet operational demand.
The role can be both emotionally and physically demanding and requires regular outdoor working in all weather conditions.
Confirmation of appointment will be subject to a medical assessment.
The Service has responsibility for several Crematoriums, cemeteries and closed churchyards across North Yorkshire, including the maintenance and safety of memorials within them, therefore the role requires the ability to travel between sites on a regular basis.
