About the role
This is a key role within the Aylesbury production facility. The role requires an excellent level of proficiency in working in a warehouse and will require an understanding of warehouse procedures and the despatch processes, and an understanding of various operations that are associated with these two processes. Although training will be given to the right candidate of all internal procedures and software used.
The primary role is to pick, pack and despatch from the Aylesbury warehouse production facility. This must be done with the highest attention to detail and in the most economical way with the resources at your disposal. It must also be performed in conjunction with all health and safety procedures and policies, ISO standards and accreditations that are in place.
The role requires significant interaction with various departments within the Aylesbury facility, the Aylesbury management team and on occasions the CDS leadership team to develop and ensure the Aylesbury facility is responding to its client’s needs.
Key Objectives:
- Own and deliver against daily and weekly targets to support on-time, in-full deliveries. Full training will be provided to help you achieve these targets effectively.
- Work closely with CDS operational teams to support customer satisfaction across all clients. Share ideas and information on work in progress, throughput, and performance to help improve operational efficiency and client outcomes.
- Support the development and adherence to pick and pack procedures in line with dispatch requirements, with guidance and training provided where needed.
Responsibilities
- Produce accurate and timely picked, packed, and dispatched goods that meet customer requirements and quality standards.
- Check delivery requirements as specified for each job during picking and packing.
- Raise delivery notes for customer orders in an accurate and timely manner.
- Produce finished materials that meet customer requirements and quality standards.
- Inform your line manager promptly of any issues or concerns.
- Contribute ideas to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs
- Ensure all work is completed in line with Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) standards, as well as company policies and procedures
- Follow all CDS ISO procedures, with training provided to ensure full understanding and compliance.
- Develop an understanding of the end-to-end warehouse and dispatch process over time, with support and training.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn and stay up to date with processes and developments
- Support CDS and its customers by carrying out additional duties as required
Key skills
- Strong attention to detail, particularly when picking and packing orders.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues across different teams.
- Ability to manage your own time efficiently to ensure all delivery requirements are met.
- Good hand-eye coordination and practical/dexterity skills.
- Previous warehouse experience is beneficial but not essential, as full training will be provided.
- Some experience within a production operative or manufacturing environment would be advantageous.
- Basic to intermediate computer skills, with the ability to learn and use various software systems (training provided).
- A proactive and solution-focused approach to problem solving.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines in line with customer requirements.
- Good concentration skills and the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
- Ability to maintain high levels of accuracy while contributing ideas for improvement.
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
- Open, flexible, and adaptable to change.
Additional Requirements
- A valid UK driving licence would be an advantage, as there may be opportunities to drive the company van when required.
- A Bendi forklift licence would be an advantage, although training may be provided for the right candidate.
In summary, you will be self-motivated and have a strong desire to complete tasks accurately and efficiently the first time. You will have good attention to detail and be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
Previous warehouse experience is beneficial but not essential, as full training will be provided. Experience within a production operative or manufacturing environment would be advantageous. You should be proactive, willing to learn, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
