Job Title: Care Assistant (Days)
Reports To: Senior Care Assistant / Nurse in Charge / Home Manager
Location: Nursing Home
Hours: Day Shifts -Full-time
Job Purpose
To provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to residents, promoting dignity, independence, choice, and wellbeing. The Care Assistant will assist residents with daily living activities while ensuring a safe, comfortable, and caring environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents with washing, bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Support residents with mobility, transfers, and the use of mobility equipment.
- Promote independence wherever possible while providing appropriate support.
Nutrition and Hydration
- Assist residents with meals and drinks as required.
- Monitor and record food and fluid intake when necessary.
- Report any concerns regarding nutrition, hydration, or weight loss.
Resident Wellbeing
- Provide emotional support and companionship.
- Encourage participation in social, recreational, and therapeutic activities.
- Support residents in maintaining their dignity, privacy, and individual choices.
Monitoring and Reporting
- Observe residents and promptly report any changes in physical or mental wellbeing.
- Maintain accurate care records and daily notes.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, healthcare professionals, residents, and their families.
Health and Safety
- Follow infection prevention and control procedures.
- Adhere to moving and handling guidelines.
- Report accidents, incidents, hazards, and safeguarding concerns immediately.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for residents.
Team Working
- Attend shift handovers and team meetings.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure continuity of care.
- Participate in mandatory training and professional development.

Desirable
- Previous experience in a care setting.
- NVQ/QCF Level 2 in Health and Social Care or willingness to work towards it.
- Knowledge of dementia care and safeguarding principles.
