Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Bar & Grill Chef to join our busy pub kitchen in Wolverhampton. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and delivering high-quality Indian and traditional English pub dishes while maintaining excellent standards of food quality, hygiene, and kitchen operations.
The ideal candidate will have experience in both Indian cuisine and British pub classics, with a strong understanding of grill cooking, menu development, and kitchen management.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and present high-quality Indian and English dishes to company standards.
- Produce a range of traditional pub favourites including grills, steaks, burgers, fish dishes, Sunday roasts, and homemade specials.
- Prepare authentic Indian dishes including curries, tandoori items, starters, and Indo-British fusion dishes.
- Manage all kitchen sections efficiently during busy service periods.
- Ensure consistency, portion control, and food presentation standards are maintained at all times.
- Assist in designing seasonal menus, daily specials, and new food concepts.
- Monitor stock levels, place orders, and control food costs and wastage.
- Ensure all food preparation areas comply with Food Safety, HACCP, and Health & Safety regulations.
- Supervise, train, and motivate junior kitchen staff where required.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Work closely with management to improve customer satisfaction and enhance the dining experience.
Essential Requirements
- experience as a Chef in a busy pub, restaurant
- Proven experience in both Indian and British cuisine.
- Experience with grill cooking and traditional pub food.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Strong knowledge of food hygiene and allergen regulations.
- Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in tandoor cooking.
- Previous supervisory or kitchen management experience.
- Level 2 or Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Experience creating menus and managing kitchen GP targets.
