This is a high-profile role within the Strategic Infrastructure (SI) division- delivering £20bn of critical decarbonisation infrastructure over the coming decade. Joining a team of Finance Business Partners, you’ll work hand in hand with Directors of National Grid’s Strategic Infrastructure business who are responsible for delivering the biggest upgrade to electricity infrastructure that the National Grid has seen in decades. These projects will together enable 50 Gigawatts of offshore wind to deliver substantial decarbonisation of our energy system. This is a new business unit which presents an exciting opportunity to build innovative solutions and create new ways of working.
This role can be based out of our Warwick office, and we’d hope to see you at least two days per week but you’re welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. We’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!
- Act as the primary finance contact to senior leaders and budget holders in the Onshore project portfolio. Confident communicator with an ability to communicate complex financial matters to senior leadership and challenge constructively.
- Understand complex regulatory frameworks and how they impact on the funding risk for the Onshore projects. Advise SI Executive Committee and Group Investment Committee on how to navigate this risk with regards to internal financing decisions.
- Lead budgeting / forecasting and financial performance analysis for designated portfolio of projects, including liaising with the supply chain to understand commercial risks and strategies.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement with the SI projects and FBP team and strong financial governance.
- Stakeholder management and finance leadership – liaise with other teams in NGET to effectively communicate and collaborate with matters relating to the Onshore portfolio, including Investment Accountants, PMO, regulations, risk and controllership.

Fully qualified accountant (member of CIMA, ACCA, or ACA).
- Commercially focused business partner with proven track recorded of driving business performance, as well as an ability to identify and understand key financial risks.
- Experience in communicating both finance and non-finance matters to senior management / SI Exec members.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trusted relationships across the organisation.
- Motivated to make a meaningful impact in a business that supports the UK’s transition to Net Zero energy.

Competitive Salary - dependent on experience.
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance with on target being 20% (with a maximum of 40%). You will also receive a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%, private medical insurance, company electric vehicle or cash alternative, plus many more flexible benefits.
