Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter to join our dynamic culinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, supporting food preparation activities, and ensuring a smooth operation during service hours. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience within the hospitality industry, particularly in a fast-paced restaurant or hotel environment. Prior experience in food service or hospitality is advantageous but not essential, as training will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Wash, clean, and sanitise dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment to ensure hygiene standards are met.
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks under supervision, including peeling, chopping, and organising ingredients.
- Support the kitchen team during busy service periods by ensuring all necessary items are available and ready for use.
- Maintain cleanliness of work surfaces, floors, and storage areas throughout shifts.
- Dispose of waste responsibly and ensure recycling procedures are followed.
- Restock supplies and organise storage areas to facilitate efficient workflow.
- Follow health and safety guidelines diligently to uphold a safe working environment.
Skills
- Experience in food preparation or working within a restaurant or hotel setting is desirable.
- Knowledge of kitchen hygiene standards and safety procedures.
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Good organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Basic cooking skills are a plus but not essential; willingness to learn is important.
- Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude towards hospitality service.
