We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated Children’s Emotional Wellbeing Support Worker to join a supportive team in providing therapeutic support to children and young people.
This warm and welcoming home, located in a quiet residential area of Wolverhampton, provides therapeutic support for up to three children aged 8-17. Recently refurbished to a high standard, the home offers comfortable and spacious communal areas where young people can relax and thrive, alongside large double bedrooms for each child. Rated “Good” by Ofsted, the home is led by a highly experienced Registered Manager. A committed team with a proven track record of building meaningful, trusting relationships, create a nurturing environment, and achieve positive outcomes through consistent, trauma-informed care.
As a Children’s Emotional Wellbeing Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing compassionate, day-to-day care that helps young people feel safe, valued, and supported. You will encourage participation in daily routines, promote emotional wellbeing, and help children develop the practical, emotional, and social skills needed to increase their independence and confidence. Working alongside the Senior team, you will maintain accurate records, follow safeguarding procedures, liaise with external professionals, and contribute to the smooth running of each shift. You will also support young people to engage in education, hobbies, and community activities, helping them build positive experiences and achieve their individual goals.
Salary: £29,700 - £30,500 (Including sleep-ins, 35.7hr contract)
Rota Pattern: 2 on 4 off (Including sleep-ins)
Overtime available, paid at an enhanced rate

Role of a Children’s Emotional Wellbeing Support Worker
- Maintain the friendly, welcoming, and therapeutic atmosphere within the home
- Build trusting relationships with the children and understand their individual needs
- Provide personalised support, tailored to each child’s views, wishes, and feelings
- Implement and follow individual care plans
- Utilise a range of therapeutic approaches to best support each child
- Provide children with encouragement, empathy, compassion, and enthusiasm.
- Create a stable and nurturing environment where children can thrive
- Develop and support consistent routines and encourage a structured lifestyle
- Encourage outdoor pursuits and healthy leisure activities to build self-confidence, life skills and hobbies
- Foster a trusting atmosphere built on positive relationships
- Encourage independence, helping children build essential social and life skills
- Support children in understanding and coping with past trauma
- De-escalate any behaviours that challenge, and understand the reasons for them
- Communicate with external professionals such as teachers, social workers, and psychologists as needed
Requirements of a Children’s Emotional Wellbeing Support Worker
- Have a genuine passion for providing children with positive outcomes.
- Must be a driver with a valid UK driving license
- Ideally, have prior experience of working in a children’s residential setting, and/or supporting children with emotional and behavioral needs
- Have a good understanding of therapeutic and trauma-informed care
- A Level 3 or 4 Residential Childcare qualification is highly desirable but not essential
- Be able to work a 2 days on, 4 days off rota pattern (Including sleep-ins)
