(£13.26 - £14.13 per hour)

The Job:
The Council is looking for two part-time Cleansing Operatives to join our team delivering high standards of cleansing for its facilities, including sports pavilions, public toilets, the town hall, community halls and the Council’s work depot.
The Person:
We are looking for enthusiastic and hardworking individuals to join our cleansing team. Ideally having previous experience in the cleansing of buildings, however, training will be provided for suitable candidates who have a willingness to learn.
The successful applicant must hold a valid driving licence, have use of a vehicle, be flexible regarding the hours required to work due to some facilities requiring cleaning at weekends following use by hirers. You should have good communication skills as the role requires interaction with colleagues and members of the public.

Key Objectives:
To undertake, to a high standard, all routine cleaning of the Councils Sports Pavilions in a clean and tidy state, prepared for the use by hirers, in accordance with daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules.
To undertake, to a high standard, all routine cleaning of Public Toilets within the Councils Parks and Cemeteries in a clean and tidy state, prepared for the use by customers, in accordance with daily and monthly cleaning schedules.
To undertake, to a high standard, all routine cleaning of the Councils Depot Facilities, offices and environs in a clean and tidy state, prepared for the use by staff, in accordance with daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules.
To undertake, to a high standard, all routine cleaning of the Councils Community Halls in a clean and tidy state, prepared for the use by hirers, in accordance with daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules.
To undertake, to a high standard, all routine cleaning of the Councils Town Hall, its offices and environs in a clean and tidy state, prepared for the reception of hirers and visitors, in accordance with daily and monthly cleaning schedules.
Responsibilities:
1 Town Hall Daily Cleans:
- Empty waste bins and bag up rubbish
- Clean and sanitise toilet units and urinals
- Clean and sanitise hand washing facilities and splash back
- Clean and buff mirrors and glass panels
- Dust and damp wipe sills, ledges and all horizontal surfaces
- Dust and damp clean soap, towels & toilet roll dispensers
- Replenish toilets rolls, soaps and change towel dispensers
- Sweep, Vacuum and mop hard floors using a disinfectant solution
- Vacuum carpets
- Clean kitchen including all work surfaces, floor and sink, excluding all appliances.
2 Toilets & Pavilions Daily Cleans:
- Clean and sanitise toilet units and urinals
- Clean and sanitise hand washing facilities and splash back
- Clean and buff mirrors
- Dust and damp wipe sills, ledges and all horizontal surfaces
- Dust and damp clean soap, towels & toilet roll dispensers
- Replenish toilets rolls, soaps and change towel dispensers
- Sweep, vacuum and mop floors using a disinfectant solution
- Empty waste bins and bag up rubbish
- Remove mud, graffiti, and any other dirt (or materials) and debris from floors, walls, furniture and doors
- Dust and remove cobwebs etc. from sills, ledges and corners
- Sweep and mop floors
- Clean all shower units, pipes, fittings and tiles.
3 Community Halls Daily Cleans:
- Sweep, vacuum and mop floors
- Empty waste bins and bag up rubbish
- Dust and remove cobwebs etc. from sills, ledges and corners
- Clean kitchen including all work surfaces, floor and sink, excluding all appliances.
4 Mess Rooms Daily:
- Empty waste bins and bag up rubbish
- Clean and sanitise toilet units and urinals
- Clean and sanitise hand washing facilities and splash back
- Clean and buff mirrors
- Dust and damp wipe sills, ledges and all horizontal surfaces
- Dust and damp clean soap, towels & toilet roll dispensers
- Replenish toilets rolls, soaps and change towel dispensers
- Sweep, Vacuum and mop hard floors using a disinfectant solution
- Vacuum entrance carpet.
- Clean kitchen including all work surfaces, floor and sink, excluding all appliances.
5 All Facilities Monthly Cleans:
- Remove marks and spillages from partitions, doors and light-switches
- Dust and damp-wipe pipes and fixtures and fittings
- High dust, and removal of cobwebs
- Wash down tiles and skirting boards
- Lift grates to remove any material to unblock drains and clear using drain cleaner in waste pipe units in accordance with manufacturer’s instruction
- Clean windows internal & external
- Clean and remove lime scale from shower heads, including dismantling cleaning and refitting as necessary.
- Run and Flush Shower pipes and sinks once each week, formally recording when completed.
6 Event Cleaning:
- Clean and sanitise toilet units and urinals
- Clean and sanitise hand washing facilities and splash back
- Replenish toilets rolls, soaps/sanitiser
- Sweep and mop floors
- Empty waste bins and bag up rubbish
- Litter picking
- Table clearance, wipe down and sanitise
7 Report any damage/vandalism or defects/concerns of outdoor facilities to the Parks & Cemeteries Manager or Town Hall to the Events Manager.
8 Report on requirements for replacement of cleaning products, equipment or consumables as required to the Parks & Cemeteries Manager or Town Hall to the Events Manager.
9 To comply with all relevant Health and Safety Legislation relevant to the duties of the post, Keep records of the cleaning schedule in accordance with HSE Guidelines. Ensure the safe use and storage of cleaning products in line with COSHH Guidelines. To undertake system flushing for legionella prevention each week ensuring it is formally recorded.
10 To wear the Town Council corporate clothing at all times whilst on duty, and to use PPE equipment provided.
11 To undertake additional training as required for carrying out duties of the post, updates on industry changes or continuous personal development.
12 To ensure compliance with the Council’s policies towards Customer Care to improve customer and client satisfaction.
13 To carry out any other duties of a similar nature that may be required.
