We are looking for a confident, proactive, and organised Business Development Manager to join our growing team.
This is not a hard-closing sales role. Your responsibility is to warm up leads, build rapport, overcome objections, and get prospects interested enough to speak with one of the founders.
You will be speaking to business owners about our call answering and business support services, helping them understand the value we provide and guiding them through our sales pipeline.
Your Responsibilities
- Follow and manage leads through our sales pipeline using HubSpot
- Check whether prospects have already received at least 3 email touchpoints from the Director
- Call prospects and professionally reference previous emails sent
- Introduce and explain our services confidently
- Build rapport and identify business pain points
- Warm leads sufficiently for a Director to take over and close the deal
- Handle objections professionally and confidently
- Research trade directories and specific industries to source potential leads
- Gather business information and add suitable prospective leads into HubSpot
- Send follow-up emails and postal letters to prospects
- Identify strong prospective leads and flag them internally
- Arrange for personalised Cake Cards or marketing materials to be sent in the post to selected prospects
- Ensure every interaction ends with a follow-up task scheduled in HubSpot
Your role is to professionally work through objections, explain the benefits of the service, and keep the opportunity alive.
The director will handle final discussions and closing where appropriate and your role is to do the difficult part of opening doors and building interest.
HubSpot & Follow-Up Expectations
Every lead must always have a follow-up task.
If a prospect says:
- “Call me next week” → schedule it properly in HubSpot
- “Maybe later” → set a reasonable future follow-up
- “Not now” → keep the lead warm unless they clearly request removal
The only time a lead should be permanently closed is when they explicitly ask to be removed from contact completely.

- Ability to research and identify quality business prospects
- Previous sales, telesales, customer service, or lead generation experience preferred
