Stagecoach Performing Arts York is looking for an enthusiastic, creative and reliable Early Stages Teacher to join our friendly teaching team from September 2026.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves working with young children and is confident delivering dance, drama and singing in a fun, engaging and supportive environment.
The Role
Our Early Stages classes are for children aged 4–6 and provide a fun and exciting introduction to the performing arts.
Our Saturday Early Stages classes run at:
- 9:30am–11:00am
- 11:15am–12:45pm
- 2:00pm–3:30pm
Each class lasts 90 minutes, with the teacher delivering a mixture of dance, drama and singing. You'll also be supported by a classroom assistant during the sessions.
The emphasis is on making performing arts exciting and accessible while helping our youngest students develop their confidence, creativity, communication skills and independence.
We're looking for someone who:
- Has a relevant performing arts, teaching or related degree, professional training, or equivalent experience
- Has experience working with children, ideally within the 4–6 age range
- Is confident leading activities in dance, drama and singing
- Can plan and deliver fun, imaginative and age-appropriate sessions
- Has excellent communication and classroom management skills
- Is warm, patient, enthusiastic and encouraging
- Is reliable and able to commit to our Saturday classes
- Understands the importance of safeguarding and child protection
- Is passionate about helping children develop through the performing arts
Previous Stagecoach experience would be welcome but is not essential.
An Enhanced DBS is required for the role. If you don't currently have one, this can be organised by Stagecoach York.
