Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled HGV Technician to join our team in our new purpose built workshop. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical background and be proficient in the maintenance and repair of heavy goods vehicles. This role requires a commitment to ensuring that all vehicles are safe, reliable, and compliant with industry standards. The HGV Technician will work closely with our transport team to ensure our vehicles maintained and ready for work.
Duties
- Conduct routine inspections and diagnostics on heavy goods vehicles to identify issues.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on various vehicle systems, including electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components.
- Fabricate parts as needed and utilise welding skills for repairs.
- Operate hand tools and equipment safely, including forklifts, to assist in the repair process.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the workshop.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an HGV Technician or similar role is essential.
- Level 3 diploma preferred but not essential.
- Experience maintaining Scania's would be an advantage.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to diagnose and repair complex issues.
- Proficiency in equipment repair, electrical systems, and fabrication techniques.
- Experience with heavy lifting and operating forklifts safely.
- Familiarity with hand tools and workshop equipment.
- A commitment to continuous professional development in the field of vehicle maintenance.
