Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and reliable HGV Driver Operator specialising in Vacuum Tanker (Drainage) operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving and operating vacuum tankers to efficiently manage drainage services. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude, attention to safety, and the ability to perform maintenance and minor repairs as needed. The position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in mechanical or electrical work to utilise their skills within a vital service sector.
Duties
- Safely operate HGV vacuum tanker vehicles to carry out drainage and waste removal tasks across various sites.
- Conduct routine inspections of the vehicle and tanker equipment prior to and after each shift, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment to perform maintenance, repairs, or adjustments on the tanker or associated machinery..
- Maintain accurate records of operations, maintenance activities, and service reports in accordance with company procedures.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations during all operations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient scheduling and completion of drainage projects.
Requirements
- Valid Class 2 HGV licence
- Proven experience operating vacuum tanker vehicles or similar heavy goods vehicles.
- Mechanical knowledge with experience in using hand tools, power tools
- Ability to perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on vehicles
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and safety procedures.
- Good physical fitness; capable of working in various weather conditions and handling manual tasks involving lifting or manoeuvring equipment.
- Flexibility to work on-call or irregular hours as required by operational demands. This role is vital for maintaining efficient drainage services while ensuring safety standards are upheld at all times. The ideal candidate will be proactive, safety-conscious, and possess a versatile skill set suited to both driving and technical tasks within the drainage sector.
Pay: £14.25-£15.25 per hour
