Waking Night Family Support Worker – Cambridge (CB4) Family Assessment Centre 4 on, 4 off shift pattern £13.50 per hour
GSR‑Recruits are recruiting a Waking Night Family Support Worker for a well‑led Family Assessment Centre in Cambridge (CB4), supporting parents and children who require structured assessment, guidance, and emotionally attuned support.
Your role throughout the night is to provide safety, stability, and calm, ensuring the centre remains secure, consistent, and responsive to the needs of families. You will support parents with routines, offer reassurance when required, and maintain high safeguarding standards while contributing to ongoing assessments.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a safe, nurturing environment for parents and children during night hours
- Provide emotional reassurance and practical support when required
- Complete night‑time welfare checks, safeguarding duties, and monitoring tasks
- Record accurate logs, observations, and handovers for the day team
- Support parents with routines where appropriate (feeding, settling, safe care)
- Uphold the centre’s values, assessment framework, and regulatory standards
- Work closely with the Registered Manager and day team to ensure continuity of care
This is a permanent waking night position.
Experience / Requirements
- Minimum 1 year experience in Residential Childcare, Family Support, or similar setting (preferred)
- Driver with access to own vehicle
- No Level 3 qualification preferred
- Strong safeguarding awareness
- Ability to remain calm, consistent, and professional during night‑time incidents
- Emotionally resilient, patient, and confident supporting vulnerable families
