We are looking for a highly organised and detail-focused Accounts Administrator to join our Finance Department. Reporting to the Financial Controller and working closely with the Accounts Team Leader, you will play a key role in supporting the efficient financial operation of the business. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end reporting, and ensuring strong financial controls across key areas of the organisation.
Duties will include:
Administer Purchase Ledger activities, including invoice processing, supplier reconciliations, payment runs, accruals, and prepayments; Administer Sales Ledger activities, including customer account maintenance, invoicing, credit notes, receipt allocation, and Direct Debits; Monitor and support credit control activities, managing customer queries, overdue accounts, and account reconciliations; Liaise with internal departments to ensure timely and accurate processing of customer credits and financial transactions; Prepare financial reports, including credit card analysis, and other management information as required; Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems while ensuring compliance with internal controls and reporting deadlines.
The criteria for this role is as below:-
Essential criteria:
- Previous experience in an Accounts Administrator, Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant or similar accounting role;
- Strong understanding of Purchase Ledger, Sales Ledger and Credit Control processes;
- Experience preparing reconciliations and supporting month-end processes;
- Excellent attention to detail and high levels of accuracy;
- Strong organisational and time management skills;
- Confident using Microsoft Excel and accounting systems;
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities;
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Desirable criteria:
- Experience using Sage 200;
- Knowledge of VAT and Intrastat reporting requirements;
- Experience working within a manufacturing, distribution or FMCG environment;
- AAT qualification or progress towards a recognised accounting qualification;
- Knowledge and experience of accounting processes involving both Sterling (GBP) and Euro currencies
