Autism Lead

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Autism Lead to join our Neurodevelopmental Services team. This senior clinical role has been created to support the Neurodevelopmental Lead with clinical matters relating to Autism assessments and diagnostic pathways.
As Autism Lead, you will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and high-quality Autism assessment services. You will provide expert clinical leadership across both operational and clinical activity, helping to maintain consistency in diagnostic practice, support clinical excellence, and contribute to the ongoing development of our Autism pathways.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled clinician with extensive Autism assessment experience who is committed to delivering outstanding care and supporting colleagues across multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct complex multidisciplinary team (MDT) reviews for Autism assessment cases as required.
Chair and co-chair Autism peer supervision sessions to support clinical quality, consistency, and diagnostic confidence.
Provide specialist clinical consultation and advice to complaints, governance, and reporting teams when required.
Support clinicians with complex Autism presentations, differential diagnoses, and diagnostic decision-making.
Contribute clinical expertise to marketing and communications activities where appropriate.
Support the onboarding, induction, and development of new clinicians working within Autism pathways.
Contribute to the development, review, and implementation of Autism assessment protocols, pathways, and clinical guidance.
Support quality assurance activities through case reviews, audits, and feedback processes.
Promote best practice and continuous improvement across Autism diagnostic services.
Requirements:

Registration with a recognised professional body such as the GMC, NMC, HCPC, or equivalent.
Extensive experience conducting Autism assessments with children, young people, and/or adults.
Significant experience using recognised Autism assessment tools and evidence-based diagnostic frameworks.
Experience working within multidisciplinary clinical teams and contributing to complex case discussions.
Experience providing clinical advice, supervision, mentoring, or support to colleagues and wider organisational functions.
Skills & Knowledge
Strong clinical judgement and decision-making skills in relation to Autism assessment and diagnosis.
Excellent understanding of neurodevelopmental conditions, differential diagnosis, and complex presentations.
Ability to communicate complex clinical information clearly and effectively to a range of stakeholders.
Strong facilitation, coaching, and peer support skills.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to balance clinical, governance, and service priorities.
