We’re looking for a Support Worker to join our children’s home in St Albans, supporting four young people with learning disabilities to live happy, meaningful and gloriously ordinary lives.
This is a full-time role, working early shifts (7am to 3pm), late shifts (2pm to 10pm) and alternate weekends.
As a Support Worker, you’ll get to know the young people you support and help them do the things that matter to them.
One day could involve helping someone get ready for school, going shopping, visiting friends or heading to the park. Another could mean baking together, playing games, watching a favourite film or enjoying a day trip.
You’ll support young people to develop confidence, independence and life skills, whilst also helping with everyday routines such as cooking, household tasks, personal care and medication.
You’ll also help them build friendships and connections in their local community and create those "heart-singing" moments that make an ordinary day feel amazing.
Previous experience in children’s residential care is not required for this role. What matters most is that you’re kind, patient, reliable and willing to learn, with a genuine belief in supporting people to have choice and control over their lives.
You may already have valuable transferable skills from retail, hospitality, education, childcare, customer service or another people-focused role.
We’ll provide the training and support you need to become a great Support Worker, with opportunities to work towards relevant qualifications, including a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare where applicable.
