Kitchen Porter / Bakery Cleaning Operative — Sticky Fingers, Stockport
£14.00 per hour | Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm
Do you take pride in creating a clean, organised and welcoming workspace? Would you enjoy being part of a quality-focused independent bakery, where your work makes a real difference every day?
Sticky Fingers is looking for a reliable, positive and energetic Kitchen Porter / Bakery Cleaning Operative to join our team.
This is far more than a pot-wash role. Our bakery is open and visible to customers, so you’ll help create a space that looks great, feels professional and allows the production team to work at their best. You’ll be a valued part of the daily rhythm of the bakery: keeping both floors clean, organised, well stocked and ready for excellent work.
What you’ll be doing
- Keeping both floors of the bakery clean, tidy and well organised throughout the day
- Washing, drying and returning tools, trays, tins, equipment and utensils to their correct places
- Checking that tools and equipment are clean, in good condition and ready for the next stage of production
- Maintaining clean worktops, sinks, floors, shelving, storage areas and customer-visible bakery spaces
- Cleaning bakery equipment, including trays, racks, mixers, fridges and ovens, following safe procedures and cleaning schedules
- Helping the bakery always look professional, welcoming and ready for customers
- Assisting with deliveries by checking, unpacking and putting away stock safely and neatly
- Keeping packaging, cleaning materials and production supplies stocked, organised and easy for the team to find
- Monitoring cleaning chemicals, consumables and hygiene supplies; reporting low stock promptly and preparing items for reorder
- Managing waste and recycling responsibly
- Completing cleaning checks accurately and reporting damaged equipment, low supplies or maintenance issues promptly
- Working closely with bakers to keep production areas prepared, organised and pleasant to work in
A hands-on, active role
This is a physically active role. You’ll be on your feet for most of the day, moving equipment and stock, keeping the bakery organised and maintaining a high standard of cleanliness throughout the shift.
We’re looking for someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in doing things properly and gets satisfaction from leaving every area clean, calm and ready for the team.
An opportunity to learn
When the bakery needs support, and once you have been trained, you may occasionally assist the baking team with simple and safe tasks. This is a great opportunity to learn about artisan bakery production, understand how the team works and develop practical skills alongside experienced bakers.
Your main priority will always remain cleanliness, organisation and maintaining the high standard of the bakery environment.
What we’re looking for
- A positive, enthusiastic and dependable approach to work
- Pride in cleanliness, organisation and attention to detail
- Someone who enjoys being part of a team and helping others work at their best
- A warm, professional attitude towards customers — our bakery is open and visible to the public
- The ability to work independently, notice what needs doing and take ownership
- Previous kitchen porter, cleaning or hospitality experience is helpful, but not essential; full training will be provided
Why join Sticky Fingers?
- Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm
- No evening or weekend work
- Staff food and hot drinks during shifts
- A staff discount outside working hours
- A stable daytime role in a quality-focused independent bakery
- The opportunity to learn about bakery production while working with a supportive team
- A role where your standards, energy and contribution make a visible difference every day
If you enjoy keeping things running beautifully, take pride in a high standard of work and want to be part of a friendly, hardworking bakery team, we’d love to hear from you.
