We are seeking an enthusiastic and engaging Guitar / Ukulele Instructor / Supervisor to lead a weekly after-school Ukulele Club at a primary school in St Albans, Hertfordshire (AL1). This role offers children the opportunity to develop musical confidence, rhythm, coordination, and instrumental skills while learning the ukulele in a fun and supportive environment.
The club runs Tuesdays, 3:15pm – 4:15pm (1 hour per week) during term time.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise small groups of primary-aged children in beginner-friendly ukulele sessions.
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons that develop rhythm, strumming technique, listening skills, and musical confidence.
- Support children in learning basic chords, simple songs, and group performance skills.
- Encourage creativity, participation, and enjoyment through music-making.
- Communicate effectively with school staff and, where appropriate, parents regarding children’s progress and participation.
- Ensure instruments, resources, and teaching spaces are safe, organised, and prepared for each session.
Experience & Skills
- Experience teaching guitar, ukulele, or other string instruments to children in schools, clubs, or private teaching settings.
- Ability to engage and motivate young learners in a structured yet enjoyable environment.
- Strong English communication skills for working effectively with children, staff, and parents.
- A background in music education, performance, or instrumental teaching is desirable.
Pay: £30.00 per hour
