As
Assistant Gardener , you’ll be working with a team to deliver the day-to-day care of the garden and maintain high presentation standards. This role will include a range of practical tasks to develop, improve and look after the garden and contribute to the delivery of projects.
Salary: £12,521.25 per annum (pro-rated from £25,837.50 full-time equivalent)
Contract Duration: Permanent
Working Pattern: You will work 945 hours per year. This role is based on annualised hours, where the amount of hours you work each month may vary, however your salary will be paid in 12 equal instalments over the year. You will work Monday to Wednesday from 7:30am to 3:30pm , with very occasional evening cover. You will work this pattern for 42 weeks of the year, with the remaining 10 weeks off work (likely after Christmas, depending on the successful candidate).

What it's like to work here:In this role, you’ll report to the Assistant Head Gardener. The Gardens team includes 1 Gardener and 3 Assistant Gardeners.

What you'll be doing:Daily responsibilities may include assisting with the planting and maintenance of shrubs and borders, mulching, hedge cutting and lawn mowing. You’ll work alongside gardeners and a team of volunteers, while also engaging with visitors on a daily basis, answering garden-related questions and taking pride in sharing your work.
You will use your interest in plants and practical approach to help deliver the day-to-day maintenance of the gardens. The role can be physically demanding at times, and you will have the opportunity to develop skills in the use of a wide range of horticultural machinery and equipment, including tractors, hedge trimmers and pedestrian mowers, with full training provided.
