Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Trainee Laminator to join our small team, to learn all aspects of the Fibreglass industry, using the hand lay-up method.
This is a manual role, whereby you will be taught the lamination process, ensuring high-quality production standards are met. This position is ideal for individuals looking to either learn a new skill, or develop existing skills in a manufacturing environment while gaining hands-on experience in lamination techniques and processes. We produce products from our own made moulds. Regular clients are from both commercial and industrial sectors, along with automotive and aircraft industries. We are often commissioned to produce one-off bespoke products, so the work is varied and interesting.
We also line ponds, swimming pools and roofs. On-going site work in the Southampton area, requiring 3 to 4 night stay on a regular basis is a key part of this employment which will include free accommodation, expenses, paid travel time plus any incurred overtime.
All site work requires certain levels of personal testing to meet each site's approval standards to enable access to work on site. This means you'll need to pass individual online tests, including Health & Safety courses as well as physical drug and alcohol screenings.
You will receive full training, on-line site safety training, PPE and company uniform.
Responsibilities
- Learn and assist in the lamination of products according to specified guidelines and quality standards.
- Operate basic machinery and equipment used in the lamination process, including power tools and hand tools.
- Fabricate components as required, ensuring accuracy and adherence to specifications.
- Assemble parts and materials as part of the production process, maintaining a clean and organised workspace.
- Conduct basic maintenance on equipment and report any issues to supervisors.
- Utilise basic maths skills to measure and cut materials accurately.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance mechanical knowledge and skills related to the laminating process.
- Follow safety protocols at all times to ensure a safe working environment.
- Willingness to travel for site work with overnight stops when required.
- Social Media skills would be advantageous
Experience
- Previous experience in a manufacturing setting is advantageous but not essential.
- Basic mechanical knowledge is beneficial (but not essential) for understanding equipment operation.
- A willingness to learn new skills and techniques related to laminating processes is essential.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
Workshop hours are 8am - 5pm Monday to Thursday and 8am to 2pm Friday. Due to our location, own transport is essential, with free parking on site.
