About the Role
University Tire and Automotive Services is looking for a Construction Estimator to prepare accurate cost estimates and support the financial planning of construction projects. The successful candidate will work closely with contractors, suppliers, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are accurately priced and commercially viable.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and quotations for construction projects.
- Review project drawings, specifications, plans, and other technical documents.
- Calculate material, labour, equipment, subcontractor, and other project costs.
- Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Prepare tender submissions and pricing documentation.
- Identify potential cost savings, risks, and pricing discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, quotations, and project costs.
- Work closely with project managers, quantity surveyors, engineers, contractors, and suppliers.
- Monitor changes to project scope and update estimates accordingly.
- Assist with budgeting, cost forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Ensure estimates comply with project specifications, contractual requirements, and relevant UK standards.
- Keep up to date with construction costs, materials, labour rates, and market conditions.
What We Are Looking For
- Previous experience as a Construction Estimator, Estimator, Quantity Surveyor, or in a similar construction-related role.
- Relevant qualification in Construction, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field is desirable.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, labour costs, and project pricing.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple estimates and deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other estimating or construction software.
- Knowledge of UK construction practices, standards, and regulations is desirable.
Pay: £39,000.00 per year
