Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook nutritious meals and snacks suitable for young children in accordance with dietary guidelines and nutritional standards
- Plan weekly menus that incorporate a variety of healthy ingredients, ensuring balanced nutrition and appealing presentation
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in all kitchen areas, adhering to health regulations at all times
- Manage food inventory, order supplies as needed, and monitor storage conditions to prevent spoilage or contamination
- Serve meals to children in a friendly and efficient manner, encouraging positive eating experiences
- Collaborate with nursery staff to accommodate special dietary requirements or allergies among children
- Keep accurate records of food preparation, ingredient sourcing, and compliance with safety protocols
Qualifications
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking, ideally within a childcare or nursery setting
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices in a kitchen environment
- Experience with meal planning and culinary techniques suitable for young children
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment, utensils, and food storage methods
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with nursery staff and caregivers
- Previous experience in restaurant or catering environments is considered an asset
