Duties & Responsibilities
As Chef at Delamer House Residential Care Home, you will play an important role in providing nutritious, home-cooked meals that contribute to the health and wellbeing of our residents.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and cooking breakfast, lunch, tea and snacks in accordance with planned menus and residents' dietary requirements.
- Ensuring all meals are nutritious, well-presented and cater for individual dietary needs, allergies and texture-modified diets.
- Maintaining the highest standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and kitchen safety in line with current Food Safety Regulations and HACCP procedures.
- Completing all required food safety documentation, including temperature monitoring and food management records.
- Ordering food supplies, monitoring stock levels and rotating stock to minimise waste.
- Ensuring all food is stored correctly and that expired items are safely disposed of.
- Cleaning kitchen equipment, work surfaces and storage areas to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Operating kitchen equipment safely and reporting any faults or maintenance issues.
- Working effectively with the Home Manager and care staff to ensure residents receive an excellent dining experience.
- Attending mandatory training and keeping knowledge of food safety and best practice up to date.
- Maintaining excellent personal hygiene and presenting a professional appearance at all times.
- Undertaking any other reasonable duties required to support the smooth running of the kitchen.
Hours: 25–27 hours per week, including alternate weekends.
Pay: £14.89–£16.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
Required Education, Skills and Qualifications
NVQ in cooking or hospitality is desirable but not a necessity.
Previous experience of working in a care home kitchen will be an advantage.
Certificate in Food Hygiene or equivalent preferable, although training will be available.
