MOT Tester / Mechanic – Bodmin

We're a traditional repair workshop in Bodmin with 9 spacious bays, established since 2002, and we're looking for an experienced MOT Tester to join our team.
Your main responsibility will be carrying out MOT tests, but when the testing lane is quiet, you'll be getting involved with servicing, repairs and diagnostics alongside the rest of the workshop.
It's a varied role where everyone gets stuck in and helps each other out – although MOT testing will always come first.
We're growing the workshop, investing in the business and building a strong team for the future, so it's a great time to come on board.
The role
You'll be:
- Carrying out MOT tests on Class 4 and Class 7 vehicles – Class 5 would be an advantage, but isn't essential
- Completing MOT documentation accurately and in line with DVSA requirements
- Advising on MOT failures and recommended repairs
- Carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs when you're not MOT testing
- Diagnosing faults where required
- Working on cars, motorhomes and light commercial vehicles
When there aren't vehicles to test, you'll be getting stuck into the workshop alongside the rest of the team.
What we're looking for
You'll need:
- A valid DVSA MOT Tester qualification, authorised for Class 4 and Class 7 MOT tests
- Solid mechanical experience
- Some diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Your own tools
- A practical, hands-on approach
- Pride in doing the job properly
- To be happy working as part of a busy, down-to-earth workshop
