The Role
We’re looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering team, supporting the electrical maintenance, reliability, and improvement of production and packing lines across a fast-paced food manufacturing site. You’ll work on everything from reactive fault-finding to planned maintenance and capital project installations, helping keep our factory running 7 days a week with minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair electrical faults on production, packing, and refrigeration equipment (PLCs, motors, drives, sensors, control panels)
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on electrical systems and equipment
- Support installation and commissioning of new machinery and automation upgrades
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts
- Ensure all electrical work complies with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards (BRC, HACCP)
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and update documentation/schematics as changes are made
- Work closely with mechanical engineers and production teams to minimise downtime
- 4 on 4 off shift pattern
- Identify opportunities for process and reliability improvements (e.g. reducing breakdown frequency, energy efficiency)
What We’re Looking For
- Recognised electrical qualification (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC/HND, or equivalent apprenticeship)
- Proven experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment — food or FMCG preferred but not essential
- Strong fault-finding skills across 3-phase power, control circuits, and PLC-driven equipment (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or similar)
- Understanding of food hygiene and safety standards is a plus (training provided if not)
- 18th Edition wiring regulations qualification desirable
- Comfortable working shifts and responding to breakdowns
- Practical, hands-on problem-solver who works well under pressure
- Good communicator, able to work across engineering, production, and quality teams
