C.L. Jones is a family run Timber & Builders Merchant and has been a leading name in the construction supply industry for 40+ years. With 8 branches across North Wales, we have established ourselves as a trusted partner for builders, contractors, and DIY enthusiasts in the region.
We are currently seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Yard & Sales Assistant to join our team at our Holyhead branch.
This is a full-time position with a minimum 30-hour contract, and working hours from Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 5:00pm, and alternate Saturday from 8:00am to 12:00pm.
About the role
As a Yard & Trade Counter Assistant, you will play an important role in the day-to-day running of the branch by supporting customers in both the yard and at the trade counter.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Processing orders and quotations over the counter, by phone or via email
- Assisting customers with their purchases and answering their questions
- Order picking, loading of delivery vehicles or customers' cars
- Operating a forklift to load and unload vehicles
- Maintaining stock control and keeping the company premises clean and organised
- Following all health and safety procedures
- Supporting the wider branch team with general day-to-day duties as required
What we're looking for:
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- Basic IT skills
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to work well within a team in a busy environment
- Physically fit, as the role involves manual handling and heavy lifting
- Previous forklift experience would be advantageous
- Knowledge of building materials or the construction industry would be beneficial
A forklift licence is preferred but not essential, as training can be provided for the right candidate.
