Due to retirement, a tremendous high profile career opportunity has arisen for a high calibre, commercially switched on Finance Director with experience within a successful Professional Services B2B environment.

The Group has established specific industry and market-focused Divisional Boards to drive change and profitable expansion.
The Expert Witness and Assessment Services Division represents an expanding portfolio of fast growth SME’s within the UK which provide innovative & collaborative Medical Reporting, Psychological & Physical Rehabilitation and Medical Assessment Services selling into an expanding range of Corporate, Legal, Insurance and Public Sector / Government markets.
The Divisional Board provide hands-on leadership to devise and execute an exciting and challenging growth strategy to maximise profitable growth targets in line with the strategic goals of the overall Handl Group.
This is seen as a great opportunity for an ambitious, driven FD to support the Divisional MD to support a collection of complementary autonomous SME businesses and help shape them into something exciting as a cohesive and fast growing leading presence in the Expert Witness and Assessment Services market.
Job purpose
This is a highly commercial Senior Finance role to provide proactive business performance management and strategic input for each operating business within this division to ensure optimal profitable growth & development. As a key member of the Executive Committee, you will balance high-level strategic planning with a hands-on approach to daily operations.
Key duties / responsibilities :
- Reporting directly to the Divisional MD and functionally to the Group CFO, to operate as a key member of the cohesive Expert Witness and Assessment Division’s Leadership Team.
- Support and develop a first class, high performing Finance function across the individual businesses, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Support in the development of MI / KPI’s to proactively review business performance and to inform key decision-making processes.
- Oversee annual budgets, forecasting, cashflow management and long-term financial sustainability.
- Ensure robust financial controls, governance and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee statutory accounts, audits and financial reporting.
- Present aggregated management accounts with insightful commentary at monthly Board Meeting.
- Ensure optimal performance and profit margins for medium-longer term Expert Witness and Assessment Service Contracts as well as key involvement in Pricing negotiations for major contract renewals and wins.
- Robust due diligence of potential Acquisition targets.
- Proactively assess from a financial / ROI perspective new business start-up opportunities and other potentially profitable business growth investment initiatives.
- Key point of contact for all professional stakeholders.
- Overall, to play a key role to drive the Division’s profitable & sustainable growth journey in support of the strategic goals and ambitions of the overall Handl Group.
Candidate Profile
Based on the strong commercial / strategic finance emphasis of this key senior role, candidates must have successfully operated in a similar Professional Services or recurring revenue Service Contract business environment.
Key attributes :
- high calibre, switched on qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA with 5 years PQE+) with wider commercial understanding who can clearly demonstrate powerful progression with proven positive business impact in your career to date must already be at a Finance Director level.
- Experience of B2B Commercial Service Contract negotiations.
- Experience leading finance teams and improving systems, controls and processes.
- Strong excel and modelling skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information for non-financial audiences.
- A collaborative and values-driven approach to leadership.
Pay: Up to £125,000.00 per year
