Tom Martin & Company Limited is a long-established non-ferrous metals processing company based in Walton Summit.
We are currently looking for a Yard Operative to join our team on a permanent, full-time basis. This role is working on the day shift, with regular overtime opportunities available.
The Role
As a Yard Operative, you will work as part of our busy processing operation, helping to ensure the safe, efficient and smooth running of the yard.
Previous experience in a manufacturing, production, recycling or similar environment would be advantageous.
Shift Pattern
Monday – Thursday: 08:00 – 16:30
Friday: 08:00 – 15:30
This is a permanent, full-time position.
What We're Looking For
Ideally, you will have experience of working in a practical, hands-on environment such as manufacturing, production, recycling or materials processing.
The following would be an advantage, but are not essential:
- Current Counterbalance FLT licence
- 360 Excavator/Operator licence
- Experience operating industrial equipment
- Previous experience in a yard, recycling or manufacturing environment
Most importantly, we're looking for people who are reliable, safety-conscious and willing to learn.
Pay & Benefits
- £12.71 - £13.48 per hour – all age categories
- £100 monthly full-attendance bonus on all shift patterns
- 22 days' flexible holiday, pro rata, plus Bank Holidays

- Skills-based bonus payments available following successful training on specific equipment, becoming a permanent addition to your wage
- Voluntary overtime regularly available at 1.5x basic pay

Christmas Shutdown
The business closes between Christmas and New Year.
Employees who have completed 6 months' service by Christmas Day will be paid for the shutdown period, with no requirement to use their holiday entitlement to cover these days.
Employees with less than 6 months' service will need to use their flexible holiday entitlement if they wish to be paid for shutdown days that are not Bank Holidays.
