Vehicle Technician / Mechanic

Overview
Cars of Essex Ltd is a fast-growing independent used car dealership based in Waltham Abbey. We pride ourselves on supplying high-quality used vehicles that are prepared to an exceptional standard.
Due to continued growth, we're looking for an experienced Vehicle Technician/Mechanic to join our friendly team. This is a varied role where no two days are the same, working on a wide range of vehicles in a busy but relaxed workshop environment.
Responsibilities
- Carry out Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDIs) on retail vehicles.
- Perform vehicle servicing and routine maintenance.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
- Carry out repairs to ensure vehicles meet our retail preparation standards.
- Complete vehicle health checks and report any additional work required.
- Prepare vehicles for MOT testing and take vehicles to and from MOT appointments.
- Collect vehicles from auctions, suppliers and customers.
- Deliver vehicles to customers when required.
- Maintain accurate job records and complete work efficiently.
- Keep the workshop clean, organised and compliant with health and safety procedures.
- Work closely with the sales and preparation teams to ensure vehicles are ready on time.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic is essential.
- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (preferred but not essential with relevant experience).
- Full UK driving licence (required).
- Own tools (required).
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
- Reliable, punctual and committed to producing high-quality work.
- MOT Tester qualification is advantageous but not essential.
