Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Deputy Manager for our Children’s Home to oversee daily operations and ensure the delivery of high-quality care. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, experience in Children’s Residential Care and a genuine commitment to supporting children’s wellbeing. Responsibilities
- Assist the Home Manager in the overall management and organisation of the Children’s Home.
- Supervise and support care staff to ensure the delivery of personalised care plans tailored to each child's needs.
- Oversee daily routines, including activities, education, and behavioural management programmes.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures relating to child protection and safeguarding.
- Lead on staff training, development, and performance reviews to maintain high standards of care.
- Manage medication administration in accordance with prescribed protocols and maintain accurate records.
- Foster a nurturing environment that promotes children’s emotional, social, and developmental needs.
- Liaise with families, social workers, health professionals, and external agencies to coordinate care effectively.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of care provided, implementing improvements where necessary.
- Support children in developing life skills and independence within a safe environment.
Requirements
- Minimum Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) is essential.
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards) is desirable.
- At least 2 years’ experience working in a children’s residential home.
- Previous experience in a Senior Residential Support Worker, Team Leader, or Deputy Manager role is preferred.
- Sound knowledge of the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards.
- Experience supporting children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD), trauma, attachment needs, learning disabilities, or autism.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- Ability to lead shifts, supervise staff, and promote high standards of care.
- Experience with safeguarding, behaviour support, risk assessments, care planning, and recording.
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins if required.
- Full UK driving licence (preferred but not essential).
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
- Right to work in the UK.
