Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Porter / Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team in maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment. This role is vital in ensuring smooth kitchen operations, assisting with food preparation, and upholding high standards of hygiene and safety. The successful candidate will work closely with chefs and kitchen staff, contributing to the delivery of excellent service in a busy hospitality setting.
Responsibilities
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks under supervision, including washing vegetables and peeling ingredients.
- Support chefs with cooking duties as required, ensuring timely and efficient meal service.
- Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, including washing dishes, pots, pans, and utensils.
- Ensure all work surfaces are sanitised and organised according to hygiene standards.
- Help with stock rotation and storage of ingredients to minimise waste.
- Support the setup and breakdown of kitchen stations before and after service periods.
- Assist in serving food to customers or guests when necessary, providing friendly and professional service.
- Follow health and safety regulations at all times to ensure a safe working environment for all staff.
Requirements
- Previous experience in food preparation, cooking, or hospitality is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
- Knowledge of kitchen procedures and hygiene standards is advantageous.
- Experience working in restaurants, hotels, or similar hospitality environments is preferred.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work well within a team.
- Flexibility to work shifts as required, including evenings and weekends if necessary.
- A positive attitude with a willingness to learn new skills related to culinary operations and hospitality services.
Pay: £12.71 per hour
Expected hours: 10.0 – 20.0 per week
