Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive, practical Junior Sign Maker to join our workshop team in South London. This entry-level role is ideal for someone looking to build a hands-on career in graphic display, print, and physical sign manufacturing. You will work alongside experienced craftsmen, learning the complete workflow from digital file prep to final site installation.
Key Responsibilities
- Vinyl Production & Finishing: Weeding, taping, and applying vinyl graphics to substrates such as Foamex, Dibond, acrylic, and wood.
- Assembly & Preparation: Cutting substrates, sanding, painting, and assembling flat-cut and built-up lettering or tray signs.
- Site Installation: Assisting senior technicians on-site across South and Central London fitting shopfronts, window vinyls, wall graphics, and vehicle wraps.
- Workshop Maintenance: Keeping production areas clean, safe, and stocked with materials, following strict health and safety protocols.
Requirements
- Practical Aptitude: Comfortable using basic hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and utility knives safely.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in measuring, cutting, and aligning graphics without bubbles or blemishes.
- Physical Fitness: Capable of manual handling, heavy lifting, and working at height on ladders or scaffold towers when required.
- Driving Licence: Full UK driving licence preferred for site transport.
- Location: Must live within reasonable commuting distance of South London.
Desired:
- Software Skills: Basic familiarity with computers; prior exposure to Adobe Illustrator or vector software is a bonus, though full training will be provided.
- Print Operation: Assisting with large-format digital printers, plotters, and laminators.
