Role Summary
We are looking for a results-driven Full-Stack Software Developer to design, build, and deploy high-performing, scalable web applications and software systems.
In this role, you will take ownership across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)—from initial architecture to production release. You will work across frontend and backend technologies, optimize complex relational databases, implement modern security practices, and ensure system performance remains fast and reliable.
Key Responsibilities
- Full-Stack Development: Design, build, and maintain multi-tier web applications and microservices using JavaScript, Python, and Java.
- System Optimization: Refactor legacy codebases, integrate open-source libraries, and resolve performance bottlenecks to optimize operational speed and reliability.
- Database Management: Design, query, and optimize relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL) with custom indexing and caching mechanisms to ensure sub-second query and load times.
- API & Integration: Build and consume RESTful APIs, utilizing asynchronous data fetching (AJAX/Fetch API) for dynamic, responsive web interfaces.
- Security & Compliance: Implement secure authentication mechanisms (JWT, OAuth 2.0, SSO, MFA) and adhere to UK/EU data protection frameworks (GDPR compliance).
- Cloud & Infrastructure: Leverage cloud assets (e.g., AWS S3) for scalable storage, background task processing, and modern cloud integration.
- Testing & Quality Assurance: Develop and execute unit, integration, and end-to-end testing strategies to maintain high code quality and low error rates.
- DevOps & Collaboration: Manage multi-branch version control using Git/GitHub, participate in continuous deployment workflows, and mentor team members.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: 3+ years of professional software engineering and web application development experience.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Core Languages: Proficiency in JavaScript, Python, Java, and SQL (knowledge of C++ is a plus).
- Frontend Technologies: Strong command of HTML5, CSS3, responsive design, and cross-browser compatibility.
- Databases: Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and MySQL, including query optimization and indexing.
- Security & APIs: Proven experience with RESTful APIs, OAuth 2.0, JWT, and secure password hashing.
- Tools & Cloud: Proficient with Git/GitHub, containerization concepts (Docker), and cloud storage services (AWS S3).
- Methodologies: Deep understanding of the full SDLC, microservices architecture, debugging, and testing workflows.
Nice-to-Haves
- Familiarity with containerized environments (Docker).
- Experience implementing automated user data deletion/export endpoints for GDPR compliance.
- Experience building or customizing Lightweight CMS platforms or task/workflow management systems.
Pay: £35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
