Engineering Manager

About the Role
We are looking for a driven and experienced Engineering Manager to lead our site engineering function and play a key role within the senior operations team.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring plant reliability, delivering capital projects, and driving continuous improvement across engineering and site performance. This is a high-impact leadership role with real opportunity to influence operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop the engineering team to deliver strong site performance

Ensure planned maintenance strategies maximise plant efficiency and minimise downtime

Manage engineering budgets and control costs in line with site objectives

Deliver capital projects on time and within budget, ensuring ROI
-
Drive continuous improvement across equipment, processes and energy usage
-
Maintain compliance with all Health & Safety, food safety and audit standards
-
Ensure effective spare parts management to support operational continuity
-
Work closely with production teams to optimise plant performance
-
Promote a strong safety culture and ensure safe systems of work at all times

Support and develop team capability through training and performance management
Essential Criteria
-
Time-served Dual Skilled Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical)
-
Proven experience in a leadership/line management role
-
Strong engineering background within manufacturing (food industry preferred)

Excellent organisational, communication and team-building skills
-
Financial awareness with experience managing budgets

Strong problem-solving skills, including Root Cause Analysis

Knowledge of key safety systems (LOTO, Permit to Work, Working at Height, Confined Space)
-
Relevant qualifications (C&G/NVQ or equivalent)
Desirable
-
Experience within a cooked meats or food manufacturing environment

IOSH / NEBOSH
-
HACCP Level 3 / Food Safety Level 3/4

Knowledge of TACCP, Legionella, LOLER
-
Experience as Electrical or Asbestos Duty Holder
