Job Overview
As part of the Estates Team, this role provides efficient and effective maintenance to deliver a well presented and safe environment for teaching and learning. Working under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor & Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Team carry out tasks and projects as directed, working in a safe manner to current Health and Safety Regulations. The post is a full-time role, offered with the flexibility of shift work across seven days and will include early mornings/late evenings.
Responsibilities
Main duties and responsibilities are varied, with occasional work with the Housekeeping and/or Grounds Teams. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Basic maintenance repairs as required. This may include (but not limited to) tasks such as labouring, unblocking sinks, plugholes and drains; hanging fixtures and fittings; assembling furniture, touching up paint work and depending on skills and experience could extend to plumbing, carpentry, electrical, decorating and building work.
- Undertake project work under the guidance and supervision of the Maintenance manager and Head of Estates.
- Caretaking duties such as sweeping floors; machine cleaning (carpet cleaners & floor scrubbers), emptying waste and recycling bins; moving furniture and distributing deliveries around the site.
- Use of hand tools and basic light machinery & ensuring that all hand and power tools are checked and maintained in line with Health & Safety guidance and School policy and to report any defects.
- Ensure all equipment is maintained and stored safely and securely and any defects are reported.
- Conduct (with appropriate training if required) compliance inspections, checks and testing such as water temperature checks, emergency light testing, fire alarm testing.
- Car-parking marshalling duties
- Opening and locking down the site daily on a rota basis. This includes ensuring that all windows are locked; all items of non-essential electrical equipment have been turned off at the sockets; all external ground floor doors are secured/locked; the building alarm system has been activated.
- Assist the Grounds Team as required.
- Assist with cleaning duties to cover absence or leave as required
- Providing evening and weekend support to the Sports Centre Duty Manager (on agreed shift pattern)
- Observing safe working practices in carrying out the required duties ensuring that instructions specified by technical consultants, contractors and manufacturers are adhered to.
- Complying with Health and Safety, First Aid, COSHH, and environment management requirements
- Undertaking any/all appropriate training as required by Line Management
Pay: £12.80 per hour
