The Role
As a Hotel Receptionist, you are the face and personality of the Carlton George Hotel. You are often the first and last impression of a guest’s stay — and the connection in between.
More than checking guests in and out, you are a storyteller, city ambassador and relationship builder. You bring Glasgow to life.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience & Connection
- Deliver warm, authentic and personable welcomes that reflect the true spirit of Glasgow.
- Build genuine rapport with guests, creating bonds that encourage return visits and long-term loyalty.
- Anticipate guest needs and personalise interactions wherever possible.
- Handle enquiries, requests and concerns with confidence, care and a solutions-focused approach.
Glasgow Ambassador
- Share insider knowledge of Glasgow — favourite areas, independent businesses, restaurants, pastimes and local stories.
- Recommend experiences that showcase the city’s relatable, human and dynamic character.
- Represent the city with pride and authenticity, never scripted or corporate in tone.
Front Office Operations
- Manage check-in and check-out procedures efficiently and accurately.
- Process reservations, payments and guest accounts.
- Maintain clear communication with housekeeping and other departments to ensure seamless guest journeys.
- Uphold brand standards while delivering service that feels natural and unforced.
Loyalty & Advocacy
- Create memorable moments that guests will proudly share with friends and family.
- Encourage repeat visits by nurturing meaningful guest relationships.
- Support the hotel’s vision of building affinity that lasts beyond a single stay.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Previous customer service experience (hospitality preferred).
- Confident communicator with a warm and engaging personality.
- A genuine love for Glasgow and pride in sharing it with others.
- Professional, organised and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and emotional intelligence.
Desirable
- Previous hotel reception experience.
- Knowledge of local attractions, restaurants and cultural events.
- Experience using hotel booking systems.
