About us
We're a group of businesses built around construction, design and property:
- Cutwood Joinery — our joinery and construction firm, delivering everything from bespoke kitchens to commercial fit-outs.
- CWJ Designs — our in-house architecture and design arm, which handles drawings and specifications across our projects.
- Property company — our property development venture, where we're building toward developing our own sites.
We're young, fast-moving and scaling quickly. We've grown by doing hard things properly, reinvesting everything back into the business, and building systems that let us punch above our size. Social media is now central to how we grow — attracting clients, partners and the right people — and we want someone to own it.
The role
We're looking for a Social Media Manager & Content Creator to take our content from good-when-we-get-round-to-it to consistent, high-quality and daily. You'll be on site and in the workshop capturing the real work — the craft, the builds, the behind-the-scenes — and turning it into short-form video that grows our audience across the group and the founder's personal brand.
This is a shoot-edit-publish role. You'll do all three. One day you're filming a staircase going in; the next you're editing a founder talking-head; the next you're planning the week's posts and replying to comments. If you love making things and want ownership of a channel from camera to caption, this is for you.
What you'll do
- Shoot content on site, in the workshop and on location — b-roll of the craft and builds, talking-head videos, behind-the-scenes, project reveals.
- Edit short-form video for Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts — hooks, pacing, captions/subtitles, sound, colour — to a consistently high standard.
- Manage our accounts day to day — scheduling, publishing, and keeping a consistent daily cadence across the group and the founder's personal brand.
- Grow and engage the audience — respond to comments and DMs, build community, and route genuine business enquiries to the right person.
- Plan content in batches — work to a content calendar, and film efficiently so we're always ahead, never scrambling.
- Track what works — watch the numbers, learn what performs, and feed that back into what we make next.
- Capture the journey — as we work toward our first property development and beyond, document it so nothing film-worthy is ever missed.
What we're looking for
Essential
- A strong portfolio or reel of short-form video you've shot and edited yourself (this matters more than any qualification).
- Confident behind a camera — you know how to get good footage in a real, unglamorous work environment.
- Skilled in editing software (e.g. CapCut, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut).
- A genuine understanding of Instagram/TikTok — hooks, trends, what makes people stop scrolling.
- Self-driven and organised — you can own the channel and keep a daily schedule without being chased.
- Able to work on site and on location around Kilmarnock (driving licence and own transport strongly preferred).
Nice to have
- Photography skills alongside video.
- An interest in construction, trades, property or business content.
- Experience managing a personal/founder brand.
- Basic graphic design (thumbnails, simple graphics).
- Comfortable being a second pair of eyes on strategy, not just execution.
Why work with us
- Real ownership. You'll run the channel, not just take orders on it.
- Genuinely good raw material. Craftsmanship, real builds and a growing property story — content that's actually satisfying to make.
- Room to grow with us. We're scaling fast across three businesses; the right person grows into a bigger role as we do.
- A team that backs doing things properly and reinvests in the people and tools that make the work better.
Pay: £25,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person
