Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Personal Assistant to provide support in various aspects of daily living for my 87 year old mother. You must live locally to the Saddleowrth area, have your own car and DBS check.
This is an ideal role for someone looking to take on a few hours a week in a caring role. The client, who has early on set dementia, but other than that is in good health, needs assistance on a daily basis to take medication , keep the house clean and tidy, prompt her for meal preparation and go to the shops as required . The ideal candidate will possess a caring nature and the ability to manage behaviours effectively while providing essential services.
The role will be to provide an hour per day of care on Thursdays and Fridays and alternate weekends (weekend rate is £30 per hour) with an additional half hour paid per day to cover travel costs and time. From time to time the dates and times of visits may need to be changed and we anticipate that as her needs change more hours may be added.
Responsibilities
- Assist client with daily living activities.
- Provide companionship and engage client in meaningful conversations and activities.
- Maintain a safe environment for client.
- Assist with medication management and ensure adherence to prescribed routines.
- Implement behaviour management strategies to support client with specific needs.
- Maintain accurate records of care provided, including any changes in client condition.
- Driving and accompanying client to local food shops.
Experience
- Previous experience in personal care or a related field is desirable.
- Knowledge of dementia care principles and practices is advantageous.
- Familiarity with first aid procedures
